Cinema Tuesdays {The Band Wagon}

Picture 82
For the month of May, I thought I'd cover five movies about Dealing with the Devil, staring with The Band Wagon, staring Cyd Charisse, Oscar Levant, Nanette Fabray and Mr. Astaire.

The wonderful Jack Buchanan plays the great egomaniac Broadway showman Jeffrey Cordova (the Devil in this story), who has decided to take a simple fun musical and turn it into a modern version of Faust, complete with singing, dancing and explosions. Disaster and hilarity ensues, but by the final reel all is forgiven and the musical is a smash hit.
Naturally, you've all seen the movie before, so when you're rewatching it, keep a close eye out for scarves as belts, early Fifties casual outfits on the extras and Mr. Astaire's trademarked brightly coloured socks.
